Through the application and integration of technology tools and software as a Process Engineer/Application Developer at IBM, he sought out and satisfied opportunities for process improvement. After seven years in manufacturing, he moved into healthcare and has continued to deliver solutions contributing to improved clinical quality, reduced administrative costs, and sustained financial performance.
ENGAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
Designed and implemented web-based infection surveillance tool to track and document HAIs throughout inpatient units in support of NHSN Patient Safety Component event reporting. Incorporated ADT, device, SIS and microbiology data from disparate systems to provide all necessary data elements for NHSN event record.
Lead designer and developer for web-based performance reporting and scorecard portal used system wide. Over $140K elimination in annual fees being paid for less-than-optimal vendor solution. New portal utilized across health system for over 10 years with continued expansion due to popularity and ease of use.
Developed and deployed labor management position request workflow system to consolidate and automate manually driven processes dependent on email and human driven triggers. Increased efficiency, formalized documented executive approvals and eliminated common data entry errors.
Designed and implemented patient transfer workflow solution. Integrated patient demographics web services and admit/discharge/transfer (ADT) history to improve efficiency and entry accuracy. Cost avoidance of over $200K annually as compared to comparable vendor product. Enabled easier tracking of EMTALA compliance.
Designed, developed and implemented multiple dashboard, reporting, and data analytics solutions, customized for each organization that improved productivity and financial performance monitoring through best practice visualizations and helped leaders sustain implemented labor management improvements.
Utilized collaborative design techniques to roll out a suite of “mistake proof” inventory control apps and processes ensuring compliance with corporate business controls, including separation of duties & conflict of interest tracking. Resulted in a 4-year cumulative audit avg. error of less than .001% in $40M high volume inventory warehouse.
Developed budget-friendly web based dashboarding solution, without licensing expense, by leveraging REST and JavaScript APIs in Tableau Server.
